Successful Weekend

Posted in Uncategorized on August 11th, 2010

I want to thank everyone who came out to the Firefly Art Fair in Wauwatosa last weekend. It was a very successful weekend for me. The weather was hot and sticky but it was a pleasant weekend with lots of friendly faces to greet. We were very lucky too that it stopped raining just before opening time on Sunday. THANKS to all of my “fans.”

Announcing a solo exhibit

Posted in Uncategorized on June 16th, 2010

A rare honor for me–after the acceptances were announced for the Anderson Arts Center’s juried photography exhibit opening June 27th, I was invited by the Center to exhibit more of my photography at the same time in a lovely upstairs gallery overlooking Lake Michigan.  It will be a retrospective made up of 24 images created during this past decade. Because my work contains much variety of subject matter and treatment, I suggested “Variety is the Spice of Life” for the title of my exhibit. It’s pretty much my lifestyle too. Everyone is invited to attend the opening reception on June 27.

Two Photos of Havana at Anderson Arts Center

Posted in Uncategorized on June 9th, 2010

Both of my entries for a juried photography exhibit at the Anderson Arts Center in Kenosha were accepted. This exhibit–”An Exhibition of Visual Images: A Juried Photography Show”– begins June 27, 2010 with an Opening Reception 1:30-4pm with awards announced at 2:30.  Both of my striking photos were taken in December when I was in Havana, Cuba. The titles are “Cigar Man” and “Havana Hands.” The show runs through August 8th with regular hours of 1-4pm Tuesday through Sunday. The Anderson Art Center is in a beautiful old mansion on Lake Michigan. The address is 121 - 66th Street, Kenosha, Wisconsin.  Its web site is http://www.andersonartscenter.com .

Judges Choice Award

Posted in Uncategorized on May 14th, 2010

At the opening reception yesterday for the Lifetime Art Exhibit, winners of the Judges’ Choice awards were announced. My photo “Grand Place” won a second place award. The other two winners were paintings. Nice surprise!! Click on the schedule link to the right to find venues to see this exhibit.

Posted in Uncategorized on March 26th, 2010

My photo “Grand Place” was recently named a winner in the Lifetime Art Competition. Each artist can submit one entry from which 25 are chosen for a traveling exhibit in the Milwaukee area. This is my third straight year of being accepted. The exhibit runs from May 1, 2010 through March 31, 2011 with a free opening reception on May 13, 2010, from 1-3pm at Harbour Village, 5700 Mockingbird Lane, Greendale, Wisconsin.  Good food and drink. ALL are welcome!

More Cuba Photos

Posted in Uncategorized on March 25th, 2010

I will have four more images from my Cuba trip exhibited during the CoPA Member Exibit in April. These are all portraits of people I found on the streets of Havana in December. The annual CoPA exhibit usually has more than 70 photographers participating. It will again be at the PH Dye House at 320 E. Buffalo St. in Milwaukee beginning Friday, April 16th, 2010 with an opening reception that evening and ending on April 25th.

Opening Reception

Posted in Uncategorized on March 8th, 2010

On Sunday morning, March 28th, there will be a free opening reception for an exhibit featuring five of my (really cool!!) Cuba photos and five photos each from three other photographers. The reception is from 9:45am-noon at the Open Door Gallery of the Community Methodist Church at 819 E. Silver Spring Dr., Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. The exhibit runs from March 26th through May 2, 2010. I hope to see you at the reception.

Cuba Photos Added to Gallery Page

Posted in Uncategorized on January 25th, 2010

Finally! I have been able to add some photos to the Gallery page of my site. If you click on “Gallery” on the right side of this page, then scroll down to “Travel”, you will find on page 3 of the travel section, 30+ photos that I shot in Cuba in December (2009) plus a few from my month in Mexico last year.  I am pleased with my 2 1/2 days’ worth of photos in Cuba but SO disappointed that two sprained ankles prevented me from shooting the entire week I was there.  :( ((   Two days are better than none, I guess. (BTW, I still haven’t found a better web host. Downloading photos to this one is not easy. Let me know if you have any suggestions, please!)

Three More Awards

Posted in Uncategorized on November 20th, 2009

In the WACCO’s (Wisconsin Area Camera Clubs Organization) fall competition three of my photos earned ribbons. They are “Grand Place”, “Irish Cottage #4″, and “Yellowstone Spring #11″.  The first image was displayed in a large version during my summer art fairs. It is now on display in my solo exhibit at Alexian Village, Milwaukee and is mounted on canvas. “Irish Cottage #4″ is a black and white print and “Yellowstone Spring #11″ is a slide which is color without color and a misty mood study.  I’m still looking for a new web host and hope to get these images up in a new web gallery at that time.
